is made from color home movies taken by crew members while on the ONLY Vietnam Tour made by the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt CVA-42.
Professionally converted to digital format with color and exposure corrections made as needed and
are made to be played on US players that are compatible with the DVD- format.
I was a US Navy Photographer’s Mate aboard the FDR from 1958-60 and I’m making these Videos so shipmates will have something visual to show their families and pass along to future generations. My plan is to make a Video for each cruise and this is the first one completed. A portion of the purchase price of this Video is donated to the USS FDR Reunion Association.
On 21 June 1966 Rosie left her Home Port of Mayport ,FL on a journey around Cape Horn to Vietnam.  After refresher training enroute and a stop in Rio de Janeiro, she held a “Crossing the Equator” Ceremony before putting in at the Subic Bay Navy Base in the Philippines for her final combat preparations. She then spent 34 days “on line” in the Gulf of Tonkin on “Yankee Station”. Her crew visited  Manila, Yokosuka, Yokohama, Tokyo and Hong Kong in between several more periods of Combat Action back on Yankee Station” in Tonkin Gulf.
She departed for the East Coast of the U.S. on 19 January 1967, held another “Crossing Ceremony” enroute and arrived home in Mayport on 21 February.
All the ports mentioned are shown in this Video as well as lots of flight operations on “Yankee Station”.
